After earning his Bronze Medallion in distance riding, he continued his education with Jim Jirkovsky, J Bar S Ranch in Kearney Nebraska. Bill was confident Thunder had the agility, stamina, will and talent that would take him to the top. Bill called Jim to tell him Thunder was a horse he would like to have in his training program. I spoke with Jim twice before I made my decision. Nebraska was a long distance from Texas and there was also a financial issue to think about. While speaking with Jim, he asked me, "what do you want to do with this horse?" Bill had told me Jim was good at deciding what the horse enjoued doing. So, I left the decision to him. He also helped me out getting Thunder to Nebraske. Jim and Sandy were going to be judging in Waco, Texas. I could met them ni Waco or take Thunder to Sandy's brother in Gainesville, Texas and they would take him to Nebraska from there. Our goal was to earn the Silver Medallion and I was committed to leave him with Jim for two years. The first training on cattle qualified Thunder to compete in the 2008 World Show Championship.
